4 Tips for Otakon Attendee's

2600 - writer/artist - posted on Thursday, 07/10/08 20:32:27 EDT

Things have been very busy at Press Start. We are getting really close to premiering our new TV show for the internet, Nick and I are busy working on the "10 more games you should have played" for Otakon this year (we have some really insane games to show off), and finally, the biggest news, Press Start will be appearing in Video Game Trader Magazine! Yes, the fine people over at VGTM liked the comic idea I pitched to them, I asked Cycloptic and Nick if they would want to help, and Press Start will be appearing in VGTM. The comic is going to be a continuous story that will appear monthly in VGTM. The comic is also going to be exclusive to VGTM, which means if you want to read, you need to subscribe to VGTM. VGTM is an amazing online magazine that I have been subscribed to since May. The magazine covers mainly classic gaming and includes reviews, news articles, retrospectives, interviews, event coverage, and a continually growing game pricing section for classic games. I love the magazine for the fact that they don't just cover classic games, but new homebrew games for classic systems. Plus, Coldguy, from the infamous Coldguy Blog also contributes some great articles, his newest being a terrible two's match up between Super Mario Bros. 2, Castlevania 2, and Zelda 2. If you are into classic gaming, head on over to Video Game Trader Magazine and subscribe! Well thats it, and enjoy our tips for Otakon attendees comic.

NAVA Video

Hey folks. As was said before, sorry about the technical difficulty. We should have had everything up on Friday but we weren't able to do so.

Saturday's NAVA was amazing. Crowded. But, amazing. A lot of the Digital Press regulars showed up as well as some other special guests, including the crew from PBC-Productions, Dan from Life in a Game, James the AVGN and of course, The Nostalgia Critic came, if only for an hour. I was shocked he didn't stay that long after coming all the way from Illinois but he was awesome to meet in person and their video came out great too.

Our video also came out great, we put it up on the Revver site into three chunks for your viewing enjoyment. This is just one part of the video, the other interviews with some of the guests will be up soon, so be sure to check em' out!

So that's it for tonight, I'm off. Have a great 4th of July and we'll see ya next week!

Techinical Difficulties

Ok, we are experiencing some technical difficulties with the site's uploader and announcement posting. Just wanted to let everyone know we have a couple of new video's featuring everyone's favorite robot buddy, R.O.B.! So check them out here:

Both videos were shot at Too Many Games in PA.

We just got back from the Starcade event at Digital Press with the Angry Video Game Nerd, Brett from PBC Productions, and Mike from Digital Press battling it out. We will have that video up very soon.

We also finished our first DVD and we will be hocking those at future conventions along with our shirts. Prices are 12 bucks a shirt, 5 bucks a DVD or the low low price of 15 bucks if you buy both together!

NAVA and a new ColdGuy Review!

Nick - writer - posted on Wednesday, 06/25/08 0:36:12 EDT

Hey everybody. Kind of a quick update for tonight. I just got back with my pop from seeing The Hulk. He was a huge fan of the TV series, as am I so we both loved the new movie. The whole movie totally makes up for the last piece of garbage.

I hope you guys liked last Friday's Homesickness comic. I had the idea right after I played through Earthbound and we were talking about it in the car. I think it came out pretty good. I'll have my review of Earthbound up soon, I didn't have time to due it because we're getting ready for NAVA on Saturday.

If you don't know by now, this NAVA is shaping up to be a dandy. With special guests James "The Angry Video Game Nerd" and the crew from PBC-Productions will be there as well! Be sure to check out the links on the side to learn more about it!

We also have a new review from ColdGuy of the Retroware TV DVD Season 1 box set. 2600 lent me his and I really enjoyed watching it on my TV rather then a small box on my computer screen.

Retroware TV DVD Review

See you back here on Friday for another comic and this Saturday in New Jersey for NAVA!

Homesickness

Earthbound (or Mother 2 as it is known in Japan, and which is a much more appropriate title for a game that is so entrenched in Beatles and John Lennon references)is easily one of (if not the) best RPG games ever created. Shigesato Itoi managed to create a world that is fun to go back and visit time and time again. Anyone who has played Earthbound knows how troublesome it can be to try and save the world with a pack of little kids. If you have never played Earthbound, or any of the Mother games, I strongly suggest checking them out. While I love Earthbound, I think the third and final game in the series (Mother 3) just eeks ahead as my favorite of the series.
